Managing website notifications can be a headache. How do you stay on top of things without drowning in emails or Slack notifications?
Equally, you don’t want to miss the forest for the trees.
Think about it: does every team member need a plugin update alert? Do you need to know when a daily backup runs—or doesn’t?
This is why we are introducing customizable WP Remote notifications—a control panel giving you full control over site alerts. Get the ones you need and avoid the overwhelm.
Right alerts to the right people at the right time
Choose which notifications to send by feature and urgency from the configuration page.
Add collaborators to define who is kept informed.
You also have the option of emails and/or Slack notifications. In fact, we recommend creating channels on your official Slack just for these alerts. It is a great way to ensure the right alerts reach the right people at the right time.
Notifications have two levels: account-wide settings that apply to all your sites, and site-specific settings that override account-wide settings. If you have a customer on a higher care plan, you can ensure their site alerts are prioritized.
How to post WP Remote notifications on Slack channels
To get your WP Remote notifications on Slack channels, follow the process below:
Empower your clients
Our new unsubscription page ensures your clients can opt out of other notifications. Unsubscribed notifications remain that way, no matter what changes are made to the notification configuration page.
However, important transactional alerts, like billing emails, are locked in and cannot be unsubscribed.
Customize, configure, control
You can now manage notifications for system actions like backups, malware scans, and more. Notifications are divided into four features: Marketing, Backups, Security, and Monitoring.
What you can manage
Marketing: Notifications about new clients. Only available for account owners at the account-wide level.
Backups: Alerts about site syncs. Think: first syncs, failures, and issues.
Security: Site security updates. This includes site hacks, discovered vulnerabilities, site cleanups, etc.
Monitoring: Contains website availability notifications. This covers uptime alerts, advanced monitoring alerts, etc.
We also have an explainer if you need a deeper dive into the notifications we currently support.
Urgency levels
Critical: Urgent notifications like site hacks and major monitoring alerts.
Warning: Important but not urgent notifications, like available update alerts or sync failures.
Info: Status updates, such as auto-update completions and regular sync completions.
WP Remote’s new alert customization gives you and your clients the power to manage notifications precisely. Avoid the clutter while staying up-to-date on all that matters. Simplify your notification system, stay in control, and focus on what truly matters.
