Introducing Activity Log v2: Explore WordPress Like Never Before

We just shipped one of our biggest updates of 2026, and I think we now have the best Activity Log for WordPress.
It doesn’t just tell you that something changed. It shows you exactly what changed.
If someone edited a post’s title, for example, you can see the old title alongside the new one, who changed it, and when. You can also check their IP address and all the other changes they made around the same time.
And this goes well beyond post edits. You can see plugin version changes, deleted comment text, bulk updates, user activity, login activity, and much more.
Nothing else we’ve seen comes close to giving you this level of detail. We reran some old support cases through it, and problems that used to take an hour before could now be fixed within 4-5 minutes.
And the best part is, you can add our MCP to ChatGPT/Claude and give it all these features too. Here’s a quick overview of all that’s new in Activity Log 2.0.
TL;DR
- Before-and-after changes for posts, plugins, themes, and more
- Better search & filters by date, event, user, and IP
- Complete update history, including every captured plugin/theme
- Sessions View to see related actions together
- Deleted comment history, with the last recorded text preserved
- CSV exports for deeper investigation
- MCP + API access for AI agents and custom workflows
If you’re a MalCare or WPRemote customer, these improvements are already live in their respective plans. There’s nothing to set up or change.
Takes You Back In Time
A post may have been edited several times by the time you look into it. A comment may already be gone. The site as it looks now can only tell you so much.
Activity Log saves the details when the event happens.
So if a WooCommerce price changes, you can see what it was before. With a plugin update, you can see the exact version change. If a comment gets deleted, we can keep the last text we captured before it disappeared.
Bulk updates get more detail too. You can inspect each captured plugin or theme in the batch and see which versions changed, so you know what to check if a problem appears afterwards.
We’re careful about the limits here as well. Older events won’t magically contain data we never recorded, and if a very large event was only partially captured, we tell you.
Saves You From Hours Of Busywork
This is probably the biggest change you’ll notice day to day. A lot of debugging time gets lost before the real debugging even starts.
You find something interesting in the log, but need more context. So you leave the screen, check wp-admin, come back, open something else. Sometimes it’s quicker to message whoever worked on the site and ask what they remember doing.
A few small checks like that, and an hour has flown by Activity Log 2.0 puts far more of that information in front of you immediately. You can see the change itself and the context around it before you start jumping elsewhere.
Sessions View helps here too. Instead of looking at isolated events, you can follow the related activity from a user in order and see how things unfolded.
You can also search the log and narrow it by date, event type, user or IP. If you need the data elsewhere, export it to CSV.
The point is to get you to the right place much earlier. Once you know what changed and what happened around it, you can decide what actually needs checking — or move straight to the relevant backup or staging point in WP Remote.
Case Study: How Freshy Saves 100s Of Hours
Freshy Sites is a US agency that hosts and manages thousands of WordPress sites. They’ve already built an “AI Debugging Agent” by connecting our Activity Log to ChatGPT.
Previously, when a client wrote in saying something was wrong with their site, someone on Freshy’s team could spend the next 20–30 minutes just figuring out what happened.
Basically, their ChatGPT connects with our Activity Log, and follows a consistent investigation process:
- Examine the website, interpret the problem and determine which evidence is relevant.
- Pull activity logs for the period mentioned in the ticket.
- Retrieve supporting data such as plugins, versions, backups, files, security events, or performance information.
- Compare the evidence with the customer’s reported symptoms.
- Return the likely cause and the safest next step.
- When a site change may be required, show the exact proposed operation and wait for human approval.
When a fix needs testing, the workflow can help prepare a staging site, with site changes kept behind human approval. Read Freshy’s full story here.
Finding it and fixing it, in one place
Once you’ve found what went wrong, you should be able to fix it quickly. That’s why Activity Log sits alongside your backups, staging, updates, and security in the same dashboard.
Our lightning-fast staging gives you a place to test a fix before touching the live site. If you need to undo a change, your offsite backups are there to restore from. And if you find malware, you can start the cleanup from the same place.
We’ve spent 15+ years improving these features because we know that when something breaks, your clients are counting on you, and you’re counting on us.
And we’re not done. If you hit a case where Activity Log still leaves you guessing, send it our way — those are exactly the cases we want to solve next.
